Now I want to hear Hiroaki Hirata say "how you doin'?" and what the original plan for season 2 of T&B was.

Hirata is awesome. It's not just his very distinct and easily recognizable voice, he also shows a lot of respect and knowledge about his characters. Doesn't hurt how he's a pretty funny guy, too.

No matter what else he does, he'll always be Sha Gojyo from Sayuki to me, in the same way Takahiro Koyasu will always be Ran/Aya from Weiß Kreuz and Steve Blum will always be Spike. Obviously all of them have displayed their range well beyond those roles over the years, but those are the performances most firmly fixed in my head.

Very nice interview! Fun and informative and not the usual anodyne responses we so often see in these.

You didn't specify English or Japanese, but here you go for the latter:

I was just about to say the same thing! So disappointed Saiyuki wasn't even mentioned in this.

Yeah that was one of my favorite roles he did along with Kotetsu, I was at his Friday Q&A panel at Animazement, and I asked him what was it like going back after so many years and voicing Kotetsu, and he answered the same as this interview.

Tiger & Bunny is such a charming show that seemingly got lost in the mix of other anime superhero shows over time. It has its ups and downs throughout its two seasons and movies, but I would definitely be up for one more go with those characters. The fact that there is a "lost season" for an alternate Season 2 is especially intriguing. Hats off to Mr. Wild Tiger!
