Besides Pierrot le Fou, A Better Tomorrow 2 is probably the least surprising inclusion

Not a single movie made after '87. Checks out.

When I read "a martial arts classic" I just knew it would be Enter the Dragon.

What I remember the most from A Better Tomorrow 2 was the “APOLOGIZE TO THE RICE RIGHT NOW!” scene. The first movie was better received. |

To be honest, I'm not surprised seeing A Better Tomorrow 2 being listed on there. When I watched Cowboy Bebop, I felt a bit of John Woo and HK gun-fu cinema played a lot of influence for the anime (along with other gun action anime like Noir, and titles like that). The other listed on there is not that surprising to me and I say that not only as an anime fan, but as a bit of a film buff/aficionado myself.

I wonder if the book will reveal what/who's behind the obsession with billiards (specifically custom pool cue artisans) that's all over Cowboy Bebop. I could die happy if it did.
