Going from talking about NFTs and AI to working alongside Katsuya Kondo, Yu Yamashita, Yuji Kaneko, Yuriko Chiba, and Reiko Yoshida is the kind of turnaround you love to see

Don't know but I find it kind of odd the fact that Taniguchi will be directing a Ghibli-style film, because I'm more familiar by the fact that he co-created and directed Code Geass and he mostly worked in more sci-if/action adjacent anime, like Infinite Ryvius, s-CRY-ed, Planetes and Gun Sword, among others, though I know he also directed the first One Piece anime project. Just by looking at the rest of the staff it caught my interest, though sometime I'm worried about these "Ghibli-like" projects

Did Goro promote NFTs and AI? If so, when did that happen and what was the project about?

It was in relation to Dark Machine the Animation, part of a multimedia project for a web3/blockchain game, and another web3 anime called Enter the Garden which he is a creative producer on. He's been banging the drum for a while that 2d animation as a medium had peaked and they needed to find new avenues, but hopefully this is a sign that he's starting to back away from that (and not that he's taking a bunch of acclaimed artists down with him)

At a glance, this new movie might be closer in terms of directorial approach to a couple of his past projects, specifically Planetes and Maria the Virgin Witch, rather than his crazier or more action-oriented works (Gun X Sword, Code Geass, Back Arrow). Of course, this is all subject to change as we learn more. The writer also adds an interesting dimension to the puzzle.

One of the things I've always liked about Taniguchi is that he's got a lot of range. You can see that in his interviews as well. I really enjoyed One Piece Film Red, most recently, but he had been doing a bunch of weird stuff lately, including the NFT and web3 things (although Bloody Escape was at least fun yet, sadly, dead on arrival due to the use of 3D and the connection to Estab-Life made it too obscure).

Reiko Yoshida has me hyped and I hope the visuals live up to the key visual.
