I cancelled after what went down with Jimmy Kimmel. I'm not giving money to Disney if they're going to fold that easily to fascists.

Apparently this was part of the reason for the Kimmel return. They already lost 4 billion and knew a price hike AND the Kimmel hiatus would double the damage of just the price hike alone. I don’t think it’s going to save them from some serious short-term hemorrhaging but it helps slow it down. Question is if this will blow over or they’re going to be feeling the effects of their rash decision longterm. Conservatives aren’t going to flock to Disney because it’s still seen as “too woke” but their boycotts are usually more successful because they stick to a few brands (Budweiser). Liberal boycotts seem to fizzle out pretty quick and don’t make a lot of noise because there are always alternatives to the things we consume.

Didn't even know that the suspension was lifted until your comment. It's good to hear, but still am even less willing to give them money for doing that along with their other issues. |

The timing of this price increase is legitimately hilarious.

What I think will happen is that there will be a long term stink worse than limburger cheese surrounding the Mouse House and anything related to it (streaming, projects, merch, parks, etc.) as this is a pretty high profile axing that was committed during a politically charged time in recent history. Hard to ignore something like that if you're an investor or someone that is looking to work for the company in some capacity. That's just an observation from a professional standpoint. |

May Mousecorp go broke. Not only are they trying to monopolize entertainment, they're trying to cater to the dictator.

No they didn't. That misleading article being passed around was based on some guy with zero knowledge of how things work seeing their stock go down 0.6% and said that means they lost billions by calculating share prices. However, Disney's stock has been going down for over a month now before the Kimmel thing even happened and experts saw no indication it was anything other than standard stock fluctuation or that if that number someone pulled out of their butt was even accurate to that. It also ignores that there were times Disney's stock increased since the 17th. Stocks fluctuate like that. People do this all the time where a company does something they don't like. They check the stock to see it's going down and claim correlation equals causation without understanding how stocks fluctuate all the time or if the market in general is on a downwards shift because of the economy. By the same logic you can say them announcing Kimmel is now unsuspended caused them to lose even more money because their stock has dropped since that announcement. So you can easily make a clickbait headline of "Unsuspending Jimmy Kimmel COST Disney BILLIONS!!" and it would be just as substantial as the initial clickbait article. |

Probably to be expected of a streaming service, but bad timing with all the bad publicity Disney is getting right now.

They do the same thing with their parks. Every year they get a price increase while offering less service. Disney+ is heading in that same direction. |

It's been said many times already but what's the point of cord-cutting if you end up paying just as much as cable anyway? At least with a cable company you may have had leverage to fight against increases to your bill.
