Nice to see that there's still a market for arcade games with custom controllers.

If it's Konami, I was hoping that it would be a retro 2D beat 'em up with similar visuals to Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Simpsons arcade games.

I believe there's not an audience for classic style beat 'em up arcade games, especially in Japan. Most modern Japanese games look more like gimmicky experiences, you have to use trading cards or stuff like that, it's not that different from the old electro-mechanical games made by companies like Namco or SEGA before they switched to develop video games, the only type of traditional arcade games that still seem to exist are racing, fighting and light-gun titles.
Still, sometimes I wonder if companies were willing to develop licensed games based on modern IPs but in the style of '80s and '90s arcade games.

They said it would be a card-based action game in the article. Which…lame. Someone give this to WayFoward, and make a retro beat-em-up if all Bandai is going to do are arena fighters. (Although I still think the best fit for the last arc is a Metroidvania).

Knowing WayForward they'd try to redesign all the characters like they did in their "River City Girls". series or use cheap Flash animation for it.

Because cutting and pasting the Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari sprites like the majority of the Technos/ArcSys games have been doing since 1988 would’ve been better?
