I just finished watching it to prep for the sequel. The original lists "fantasy" and "science fiction" as genres, which it is totally not.

It takes place in (then) modern-day Japan and has no aliens, advanced technology, or space-faring adventures.

The whole premise is based around a demon emperor trying to come out of the Nether-realm to destroy/take over humanity.

Please delete the fantasy and science fiction tags and replace them supernatural, instead. Thank you.
