Given the annual plans and it being long rumored for this year I'm guessing development on Townfall's already finished and they're just waiting to release it.

Yeah, it looks like it’s finally in proper development now — hopefully we get more solid updates soon!

Hopefully never if they're just going to turn it into an action game like the Lords of Shadow era since I have my doubts any AA company would greenlight a classic 2D Castlevania game in 2026.

You would think that the success of Bloodstained would show them that there is a market for 2D Castlevania games.

Sadly, the ones that are holding the purse (Konami in this case) would rather just do compilation re-releases/ports of the classic 2D Castlevania games than do a new take on the 2D Castlevania style game. Bringing the topic back to the game at hand, I really hope that Konami gives the team developing the new Silent Hill game time to cook properly as the last couple of games were given a relatively warm reception upon release (SH2 Remake w/Boober Team, SH f by NeoBards). It would be a crying shame if Konami decides to muddy the waters after having solid releases for the IP.

Don't know about AA companies but AAA companies don't want 'success' they want smash hits. Bloodstained may has done well to get spin-offs and sequels but AAA companies want games that sell 10 million copies. You can't really do that with 2D games so I doubt they'd invest in it. Worse, they might base a new Castlevania game on the Netflix show but hopefully the series' cancellation means they'd refrain from doing that.

Townfall was announced waaaaay back during the first SH Revival transmission, so it has actually been in development the longest out of all their projects.

So I wouldn't worry about Konami not giving their partners ample time.

Also, I don't see any new Castlevania happening unless a 3rd party makes a decent pitch to Konami like they've been doing with the SH series.
