I hope Discotek gets the rest of the series. Not sure if Sentai/AMC still has the rights. Day one for me.

Really hope if they have up to the movies that they have everything missing from Sentai's releases. IIRC, this OVA series in particular originally had a commentary track with Mamoru Oshii on one of the CPM DVDs.

I hope they get the movies, and in 4K. Or at least with both dubs for the first two movies.

This, so much. I really love the Manga UK dub of the first two movies.

Interesting pick up. I'm curious to see how it compares to sentai's most recent release...

Indeed, it was one of their "Collector's Series" releases with a commentary from Oshii on the first three episodes.

For once, I can skip all the releases, lol. The completionist inside me really wants the second Lupin III specials collection, but I already have the individual releases. Next collection should be interesting though for the 2001 and 2003 specials finally getting BD releases.

Does that OVA have a new dub, this time dubbed in Vancouver?

On one hand, I am glad to see Patlabor is still going to be available. It's a classic series for a reason.

On the other hand, I already own the Maiden Japan complete set and would have loved to have seen so many other titles get announced instead. The list of new and rescue licenses I want just seems to grow every year. Fingers crossed Discotek's next batch of announcements has something more exciting included.

I've been recently rewatching Patlabor (at a slow pace, mind), and it's been hard not think, "Wow, this is even better than I remember" watching The Early Days. I'm not sure how accessible the Complete Collection is these days (which includes the entire TV series, both OVA series, and three movies -- but not the short film, iirc) but I feel like there'd be some appeal in just giving TED a separate release, because it's way easier (and cheaper) for viewers to get on-board with a short, 7-episode OVA series.

And I assume this is happening to capitalize on the upcoming anime project (fingers crossed it's actually good).

Though maybe some of this energy could be directed at a shiny new BRD release of the live action show?
