nobody really wanted this ad-free plan to begin with, and then they raise the price of the thing no body wanted.

this feels like a really bad snl sketch or something.

EDIT: i can't type. i meant nobody wanted to pay to remove ads again, because prime video used to have ad-free stuff included. think i'm tired...

What you really mean is no one wanted ads, but once it had them of course some people wanted a way to pay to get rid of them again.

Really hate they got Brighter Than the Sun and Sanda. Guess the only option is pirate flag emoji.

In all honesty I have not watched Prime Video since they started charging for Ad-free. I think the cost of Prime is starting to outweigh the benefits...extra fee for ad-free, extra fee for streaming music, extra fee for shipping (since so many other sellers are shipping with fees under the guise of 'Prime')...

Again, my love-hate relationship in general whether it's Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, etc... my hate for streaming has greatly increased since the price hike, and the way every streaming provider operate makes me uncomfortable and upsetting. This price hike will definitely make a lot of subscribers not very happy.

Meanwhile, when streaming becomes frustrating, there is good news: Gen Z did it again with their love of retro, this time they're buying (& renting) physical media as in DVDs and probably Blu-rays according to LA Times. The article has cited "Young customers cite frustration with subscription fatigue and content scattered across platforms, viewing physical media ownership as a form of cultural rebellion. Physical media sales declined just 9% in 2025, compared to drops of over 20% in 2023 and 2024, marking a dramatic shift in a shrinking market." I wouldn't be surprised if rising subscription prices could be another factor why Gen Z and other demographic may have resorted to buying and renting blu-rays and DVDs as a last straw due to problem and issues with streaming in general.

Hmm... right in time for the premier of the final season of The Boys. How convenient.

Still boycotting Amazon as a whole, this latest price hike of theirs has solidified my stance.

That and the new season of Invincible. They knew when to squeeze their consumers.

Yeah, I'm sure the justification for having ads despite paying for prime is that prime gets you all sort of other things, whereas other video subscriptions are just for the videos. But, the cost of prime has also increased, so I have to question the need. Also, amazon will sell you ad-free at extra cost, but it doesn't do something like a Prime with just shipping option. Throwing all that into one fee makes it murky on what anyone is exactly paying for with it.
