Over the course of this game's press cycle, I went from super hyped when it was first announced, to cautiously optimistic as more details trickled in, to not even bothering with the pre-order. The last straw was probably dropping a huge spoiler front-and-center in the in the Day 1 DLC like they didn't even care.
Now that reviews are out, it seems like it at least landed on the upper end of "it's fine." I may still pick it up on sale, (maybe after some of the "seriously, though?" issues in the UI get patched), but this might be one of those spinoffs where I'm just a fan of one specific entry (Stories 2!) rather than the series as a whole. |

I'm greatly enjoying the game but I'm a little disappointed the monster roster is smaller than 2.

I only played the first game and while I liked the idea of Monster Hunter Pokemon the combat system was a bit too simplistic to me with the rock-paper-scissors attack system. I don't know if they ever changed that for the 2nd one or the third but I'd like it if it was a bit more indepth or traditional RPG. It was the same issue I had with Yokai Watch being mostly auto-battles with some touch gimmicks.
