Just for anyone confused, Criterion channel is different from Criterion releases. Criterion channel is basically the streaming service and it has been getting more and more anime lately (for example, ghost in the Shell films and stand alone complex series been on there for awhile). Criterion releases is when they produce a 4K or Blu-ray, and I don't think any big animes have been set for that lately (unless you count K-Pop demon hunters).

This seems to be more believable than a certain anime page Nathanistic who claims there will be more news about K-On! at Anime Japan which hasn't proven.

K-On actually first aired in 2009, so 17 years ago.
