This is absolutely heartbreaking... I really loved her voice and admired the work she put into voicing Ran for 30 years. May she rest in peace.

Also Ayane in Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden; god, so soon after the new Dead or Alive was announced. Also poignant she filled in for Akemi Okamura as Okamura has been filling in as Ran since March. Rest well

That’s so sad. When it comes to super long running shows that run for decades, you have to assume that not every voice actor will make it to the end, but it doesn’t make it hurt less.

I’ve been seeing various voice actors comment on Twitter. She seemed really well liked.

Rest in peace.

Aside from her most known roles like Ran in Detective Conan, and Ayane in Dead or Alive, she was really great as Gallia in Saint Seiya Omega.

In addition to the voice of Koan, she was also the voice of young Nehelenia in Sailor Moon Sailor Stars and she took over the role of Ikuko Tsukino in Sailor Moon Cosmos after the previous seiyuu had passed away. Besides Koan and Ran, I knew Wakana Yamazaki as the voice of Arukenimon in Digimon Adventure 02 who was one of my favorite villains in that season. RIP Wakana Yamazaki and thank you for all the powerful roles over the years.

Absolutely heartbreaking news. Detective Conan is one of my all-time favorite series, and one of the biggest reasons why is because it has so many different characters who I love. And at the top of that long list is Ran -- and Yamazaki's performance was pitch-perfect for the character. I cannot imagine the anime without her. She leaves us far, far too soon.

Man...what a gut punch to the soul. (or in this case, a Ran Mouri karate kick)
She will genuinely be missed.

First Ohno, and now Yamazaki. Not a good year for TMS. R.I.P.

Yamazaki has the two saddest scenes in Sailor Moon now. As Koan and Ikuko-mama. I am going to miss her.

very sad Sad

I was a big fan of hers (I love her voice, thought she was a good actress and she normally played memorable roles) and had been buying imports of DVDs in which she was involved (despite being unable to understand Japanese)
and buying cds in which she sung image songs (still missing the Super Real Mah Jongg one which I believe is only on the Windows version of the game)

R.I.P. Waka-chan

Anyone else think it’s completely unfair that this woman dedicated 30 years to voicing a character only to not be allowed to see the series to its conclusion? Life is so cruel. But I hope she’s resting in peace.
