And with that, after 22 years, "Case Closed" is officially dead and buried. How appropriate.

The Exorcist and the Lovestruck Raven and No Glass Slippers for Me are both titles I was really hoping for and will be ordering ASAP! #Gal x Gal Yuri being printed was inevitable, but I'll also be picking it up.

Not necessarily. The announcement was only in regards to the 3-in-1 omnibuses, and Viz even admitted that they don't have any word on how or if this will affect the newer individual volumes & simulpublished chapters quite yet.

I wound up buying the remaining 21 volumes of Slam Dunk I had left to get a few years ago, but since I absolutely loved finally reading it last year I might double-dip for the new release, especially since it'll have the OG color pages this time around.

I was surprised to see Gal x Gal (forgot it was being released for digital already).
Guess it did well.
Yazawa yay!

They're the last ones out there still using the Funimation-era names; I'd just make the switch. I hardly believe anyone would notice or even care about 100 volumes of manga being outdated.

They really ought to do the same thing with One Piece and "Zolo".

Conan getting omnibus releases is way overdue for a series of that length, but I'm also mildly surprised since I never got the impression it did that well for Viz. I wonder if this is more of a push from the JP side of things, or if the Detective Conan rebrand is going pretty well.

Also a little curious what the demographics of this would be, I'd imagine there's a good chunk of fans who are completely caught up and don't need to re-buy 90 volumes, but I know the names have been a sore spot for quite some time.

They are trying really hard with the re-branding.

Mushroom: It's because Sony owns Zorro, even though R. Crumb said it was in public domain. Anyway, speaking of basketball manga, Deep 3 needs more Amazon ranking love.

Ughhh....do I rebuy Detective Conan as omnibuses....? My single volumes are incomplete for the English release but it is nice to finally have the proper names outside of the Shogakukan Asia English release...

Oi oi....

This excuse has never held any real weight, simply because Viz originally used "Zoro" for the One Piece manga (the earliest print runs of the initial volumes, which predate 4Kids licensing the anime in 2004, prove it), and "Zoro" has continued to be used ever since FUNimation got the rights to the anime after 4Kids' license ended. The anime has continued to air on Toonami using "Zoro" without any repercussion, too, including back when FUNimation's dub replaced 4Kids' dub on Saturday evenings back in late 2007.

Sure, 4Kids might have been scared of a potential lawsuit so, & they're the ones who forced Viz to change the manga to use "Zolo", but 4Kids was always silly about stuff like this & it's clear that there was never going to be any lawsuit.
