This "coverage" seems a bit flimsy & journalistically-offensive in that the statements made seem desperate to avoid any sort of critique of the actual content included in the game as it is currently presented. It may as well be listed as an Ad rather than a feature article.
The previous title Runersia has had technical issues on PC, and while there are a solid amount of positive reviews from the hardcore crowd, there are enough negative reviews saying that Runersia is a bit of a stale+repetitive misfire that research is recommended before buying.
The technical issues apparently got worse with the Brigandine Abyss demo on Steam, enough so that Producer Saito has had to chime in about it being rectified a few times, and there seems to be a lot of chatter regarding the PC version of Abyss potentially being mis-managed or haphazard.
I'm personally tempering my excitement for Abyss and am waiting to see if it's a garbage fire or not once it's actually out and fully playable. "Controversy" is not the right word I would use here, it's that the community (including myself) are apprehensive that they are going to be able to deliver a competent PC app and worthwhile gameplay experience that doesn't feel like an empty string of repetitive encounters.
The demo is still available for free on PC, so you can judge their progress for yourself. I'm staying apprehensive given my own time keeping an eye on their progress.

I will say that this article has brought this game to my attention and it does look interesting, so I will be keeping my eye on it.
But the way the article glazes Fire Emblem, especially Path of Radiance, almost makes it seem more like an ad for that series.

There's a lack of Fire Emblem-style strategy games on PC and we are unlikely to get the actual series on the platform anytime soon, so that's a good thing.
I know Brigandine isn't exactly the same, but I can't fault them for trying to capture some of the vibes, despite having a presumably lower budget available.
I hope the technical issues and other quirks are ironed out by the time the full game releases or with any early patches.
