"Blah blah blah, I'm not guilty of the anime I watch. Blah blah blah."
The main two for me are Tokyo Mew Mew and Little Snow Fairy Sugar. TMM more so, because it's much more girly than Sailormoon. First of all, 90% of the cast is 15 or younger. That alone makes me feel sort of dirty for watching it. Second, it's all pink and flowery, full of beautiful boys and crushes and crushed or mistaken feelings and all this other tweenie drama. Why do I watch it? (Or did, rather). Despite all that, all this tweenie-bopper soap opera stuff had me longing for the next episode. Well, that and Mew Ichigo (Catgirls FTW). Plus, one of the most mindnumbingly catchy anime themes I can think of. However, the moment my mom crossed the computer, I'd quick close the window, cos I was too ashamed to be caught watching it. Snow Fairy Sugar is cute. No doubt about it. It's as cute and, well.. Sugary as the title says. However, it's not so cute that it makes you sick. I love it. No matter how many times I watch it, it brings a smile on my face. What I really like about it is that it reminded me of the Old Nick Jr. Shows like the Noozles or the Little Koala or Maple Town or the L'il bits. And the ending is just so spoiler[bittersweet. What are your guilty pleasures? |

Hyper police, the show is absolutely horrid with wretched animation and dismal voice acting. But I enjoyed it enough to sit through all 26 episodes. And I got the first 3 volumes of the manga for like six fity together. I blame my love of catgirls, as I have no other excuse.

Full Metal Panic! is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me (although probably a lot of people wouldn't consider it a 'guilty pleasure'). I generally really dislike anime that have the feel this series does--the innuendo/slight fanservice bent, the sometimes drawn-out fight scenes, etc. And it doesn't really do anything NEW. But Iove the characters (and the dub) so much that I still really enjoy the series.
Oh, and I really like Prétear, but I can't help saying to myself "this is like watching a harlem anime for girls..." at some points of the series.

Really? I personally thought the show was hilarious and the character extremely lovable. Well anyway, I just wanted to ask; is the japanese voice acting dismal, the english one or both? It's been a while since I watched that one and I can't remember clearly. About mine, it go to be Medabots, it's a good kid show but when you still get a kick out of it after hitting 14 years old and beyond, you know there's something sightly wrong. |

Here is a thread from a while back which is similar to this one. My "guilty pleasure anime" hasn't really changed since I posted there.
cute twins + cute seiyuu = win

I found a lot of it really endearing honestly, both the writing and the characters (especially Natsuki). Which is more likely than not why I enjoy the series. The dub is hands down the worst I have ever heard, and I'm very, very forgiving with dubs. It sounds like they found people on the street and got them to perform, it's that bad. The Japanese voices are aight I guess, but nothing great if memory serves. The manga is a lot more enjoyable, so if you liked the anime well yeah get the mangat. The art is leaps and bounds better, and no bad voices to to boot. |

No contest here. Peach Girl is the easy win for me. It's soppy, it's soapie, totally mushy, totally teenage and ultimately hilarious and addictive! I finished it a couple months back but all the characters are so clear in my memory, even the theme song and individual soppy scenes. I started watching the live-action Peach Girl series which happens to be...well...very bad. I hope there is a second animated series

Shakugan no Shana and Zero no Tsukaima...
They're so similar, I feel like I could use them interchangably by now, lol. Anyway, I normally don't like romantic comedies, most of the characters aren't THAT likable to me, action was somewhat lackluster, and neither anime's plot impressed me significantly. My enjoyment of both was pretty much carried all the way by the tsundere couples' interactions. Which, amusingly enough, were voiced by the same seiyuus in both anime. Oh, and the animation was pretty good, although Zero no Tsukaima had a bit of color-and-sparkle overload. Meh... |

Fruit's Basket, Midori Days, Someday's Dreaners, Pretear, and Rumbling hearts are guilty pleasure for me. All of them are dramatic and sappy and make me cry

I've got a couple of shows from two opposite genres, those being Yu Yu Hakusho and Stellvia. I'm way over the intended age demographic for both, and I still find myself totally immersed when I watch either show. I ran through Stellvia in five days, marathoning the last four discs one early Sunday morning. As for Yu Yu Hakusho, I initially bought the first 31 volumes on VHS (Why did I do that?). The final volume (32) wasn't available on VHS, and I still found the show quite enjoyable by then, so I replaced everything with the DVD collections of the show. It's the combination of action, diverse scenarios, and character development (Stellvia, more, YYH less),that's kept me enjoying these shows.
EDIT: bad phrasing Last edited by NGE1113 on Mon Feb 05, 2007 12:56 am; edited 1 time in total |

I'm trying to think of the anime equivalent to my unflattering and still continuing ability to be able to listen to (and actually enjoy) Kudo Shizuka and Sakai Noriko tunes from the late 80s. The closest I can think of is the original Di Gi Charat series. There is no way in this world I could convince anyone I know that the show is actually watchable, let alone enjoyable. Actually, I think pretty well everyone would be questioning my sanity. But heck, a bunch of short cartoons featuring a cute as heck can be 10 year-old brat who fries people with ray beams fired out of her eyes. What's there not to like in that?
For me the "I can't figure out why I'm still watching it" title goes to Gintama. It would qualify for the guilty pleasure title if not for the fact I can't help but feel that I'm watching it due to a sense of utter disbelief... Plus its target age demographic is way below my age group. Yes, I've laughed at a few of the jokes but from the second the little "Friday... It's good" blurb flashes on the screen (along with the Bleach logo - there's a series in my books that is damned through guilt by association) I get that weird feeling I'm going to be watching the anime equivalent of a fart joke movie. After all I still find it hard to believe there's a woman on this planet who actually agreed to take the part of a character named "Ketsuno Ana"(?!) - which is crass enough such that I'm not going to translate it here. |

I think one series I mentioned in previous threads was Girls Bravo; at some point in the past, I decided, "No way, I'm never going to watch Girls Bravo, it just looks so bad." But, I watched it anyway and enjoyed the few-holds-barred etchi comedy and memorable if not well-developed characters. Okay, some of them are well-developed, but you know what I mean Another shameless harem anime that falls in this category is Yumeria; it's pretty much the prototypical ADV anime with sci-fi, action, comedy, and lots of fanservice & jiggle. I randomly bought the thinpack during TRSI's ADV sale because I'd heard it mentioned on these forums one time, and took it over to a gathering of fellow anime fans--needless to say, a few drinks made the rediculous, inane, plotless storyline far more enjoyable than meets the critical eye. Between the girls for every taste (loli-catgirl, childhood friend, says-only-one-word mystery girl, "cousin" figure, older woman) and the unique method of "charging," it's just twelve episodes of eyecandy and fun. I had to turn to fansubs to finish it because I still haven't gotten the DVDs back from the friends who wanted to borrow it. |

I started watching Gasaraki a second time, and it's quite literally the most boring anime I've watched. EVER.(even in my first run) And yet everytime I watch it, I can't stop myself. Something about the series is just addictive. And I don't think it's the political babble, since half the time I don't even understand what they're saying.
Another series would be Yu Yu Hakusho. I generally dislike the long-running shounen-action type, yet for some reason, I just love this show and the manga series. It could just be the detailed graphic violence, or something, but this series keeps me hooked. |

Princess Tutu Its a show about a duck that becomes a girl that turns into a Magical ballerina named Princess Tutu. And everytime she turns back into a duck her clothes fall off, so when she changes back she's naked. This plus all the random dancing that encompasses EVERYTHING. but I still love it
