Hi everyone! I am hoping to get some advice about a potential purchase. There's an art book that I want (the Banana Fish art book, to be exact) that is listed for sale on HobbyLink Japan; however, it is Out-of-Stock, with a grey box. According to the site, the grey box indicates that no one has ordered the item, and they might be able to get another in if someone does. The art book is in stock on Amazon.jp, but I have never ordered from that site before. Would it be a better move to order the book from HLJ and see if they are able to acquire a copy, or go to Amazon.jp? Thank you so much for your help! Smile

I've ordered from both sites and both are reliable. I've never ordered anything from HLJ that was marked with a grey box before (yellow yes but not grey). So I can't say if they will ever be able to get it. As a personal recommendation, I'd get the sure thing on Amazon.co.jp. But that may be just me.

I haven't order anything from HLJ but have ordered ALOT from amazon.jp including used manga from their Marketplace network of sellers. I only order from sellers willing to ship outside of Japan but haven't had a problem yet. DHL, FedEx and UPS all know how to get to my house now which is in the sticks. Smile

I would try hobby link first because the shipping is fairly cheap compared to amazon.jp which charges you 2700 yen for shipping off the bat for books and hobby link is like 1200 yen for fedex on their books.

I've ordered from HLJ before and would do so again, but if you're in any kind of hurry or think the book might sell out on amazon soon, might be better to just try and get it from them.

Ah, thank you all so much for your advice! You've all been really helpful, and even answered some questions I'd meant to ask, such as about shipping on Amazon.jp. I think what I'll do is e-mail HLJ and ask them about their chances of getting the book back in stock/how easy it would be for them, and depending on how they answer, I'll try Amazon afterwards. Again, thank you so much! Smile
