I just recently read whats available of this series on the suggestion of my friend (who is studying culinary arts in college) and I decided to read it merely because I enjoyed another manga series about food (that series being Yakitate! Japan). To my surprise, it was an enjoyable series. Much like Yakitate! this manga series puts its main focus on the main character trying to create his ideal curry (spoiler[which is later on revealed to be his dead mother's curry]). However unlike Yakitate! the main character of this series, Koenji isn't your naive young boy. Instead he is a perverted man who closely resembles Eikichi Onizuka from GTO fame (at least early on when he wears the bandana).
Once again though what lured me to this series was the food itself. Learning about food, has never been so enjoyable. At the moment though this series falls into a repetitive formula (though enjoyable nonetheless) I impatiently wait for further chapters to be released (as currently it only stands at 53 chapters). I really wish there were more manga about food. Its pretty sad but both Yakitate! Japan and Addicted to Curry have been more educational about food than the food network. |
