Okay... I know it probably sounds weird (because it did to me the first time I heard it) but, a friend told me just yesterday that some companies in america are considering taking up a metroid anime series that was made in japan and bringing it here. I don't know if anyoe in here even cares about games but, they do usually seem closely tied in with anime. Let's see... are there any Metroid fans that would like to see this produced (if it even exists)? Does anyone have more information on this topic? Have you heard about the new GBA game that is going to be released also (Metroid: Zero Mission)?
I'm interested in hearing some opinions, facts, or just a word from some fans.

As a huge Metroid fan, I'd like to see a set of OVA's, but not necessarily a whole series. It would be awfully hard to create a whole series with only one character. Even if the real plot was Samus' soul-searching or something, it would be hard-pressed to gain any recognition outside of die-hard fans. Just a side note, where exactly did you hear this rumor? Is it a reliable source, or is it another one of those infamous GameFAQ-type rumors?

Yeah, It seems it would be hard to create a long series on the metroid plot. For sure though, I hope that the creatures don't talk. I've seen metroid comics where Ridley speaks and I think Mother Brain does too... I dunno, it just seemed silly to me for a dragon and a brain in a tank of LCL to talk...ha... And on the recent GBA game Metroid fusion, A computer with apparently awesome AI, talked to Samus and instructed her through her mission, which also introduced her personality, a kind of independant person who dislikes taking commands from anyone. I really never knew her to have any personality or talking parts until that game.
Everyone must also keep in mind the limited available story options. For example: the story backed itself into a corner really when metroids became supposedly extinct. Being that the game is called "metroid" it would be impossible almost to have a story without them, and to bring them back with a silly reason for why and how they could re-appear may look clumsy and immature (story-wise). So... It's hard to tell where any metroid titles will go. They could remain in the past story parts and eventually wear them out, or find a way out of their trap. So it's going to be interesting what it turns out being. It's hard for me to imagine that the creators couldn't see this trap, so i have no idea what's going on really. It could be all on purpose but right now, it seems to be at a standstill. New games being released should always spark interest in questioning fans like myself. I want to know what anyone else thinks about any of this too. Please leave comments if you have any. And, I'm not so sure just how reliable my source is... I came on here to try and check it out. He seems to be pretty sure of it's existance, however, he has no idea on the plans, and if it is to be released here. So, I dunno. I'll try and research it and if I find anything I'll be sure to post it. Later. |

You can be pretty sure, but you can also be pretty wrong. Or, he may just be starting a rumor like so many do, just to get their name out there. I hold my breath until I hear from a reliable source. (I kinda hope it is though )

It's about as real as live action Evangelion and Dragonball Z happening.

Here's another question, for people that may know or care about: I ALSO hear that there's supposed to be a Cowboy Bebop game released here in America this year. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Where did you hear that from? I just know about the Playstation game that was released in Japan by Bandai. Apparently the game isn't all that great. A good Bebop game would be neat though.

Ahhh..Here it is. It doesn't say much about the game, but it does offer a confirmation on the title. And I trust GamePro.
http://www.gamepro.com/entertainment/anime/dvd/news/30089.shtml There's also mention of it at codes.ign.com. While I was searching for it I also found a Bastard!! title for Playstation (not 2). Is this also true and if so where can I find it? |

Since we are on the topic of anime video games, I figured why not bring up the Trigun video game. I believe it's called Trigun: The Planet Gunsmoke. The only thing I know about it is that it was officially announced and that there is a trailer for it.
