I don't think that "adapts" is really the appropriate term to use here.  Other than the name and the fact that the anime credits La'cryma (the game designer), the events and characters in the anime have virtually nothing in common with the game. They don't even share similar character designs.

Yeah, they just recycled the property to make an original show. That's what happens when you acquire anime rights ahead of time, and the game tanks.
