I've seen Murakami's art work before but I never realized he was this big. I have still to visit the exhibition, but I was wondering how big of an impact this artist had really had on the anime industry. From what I have read he has had a lucrative career as an artist, is deeply involved in the Japanese anime culture, and has numerous artisitc deals with brands like Louis Vittoun. Until now I never attributed Japanese anime to be considered as mainstream art, and I only thought that fans really considered it so. Is this a sign of acceptance of Eastern culture in the West? Or is this something else completely?
