I wonder does the title sound awkward.
Anyways, I've been trying to search for particular types on anime that I've taken a liking to lately, but there is a problem, 1. A proper name(yuri,yaoi,shonen,loli) for such a category doesnt exist...but Ill just call it 'Disturbing' anime... 2. Authors rarely want to touch subjects like psychopathic lolis, murderous children, sadistic yet cute little girls...excessive gore involving characters that rarely gets hurt in the media, like children, elderly and women(I'd ask why this is the case, but thats not anime related). Two of the best examples I could think of are...Higurashi, Shadowstar narutaru, and Elfen Lied. I especially like the Higurashi and Shadowstar, mainly due to the fact that both anime starts off as really light-hearted kiddy comedy, and in just an episode or two, the characters would all go psycho and people start violently dying...something parents of little kids would mistake as safe to watch at first, but have heart attacks upon learning what happens later on. So basicly Im looking for recommendations for animes similar to the two I described above...more importantly I want something even more disturbing then Higurashi, Elfen Lied, or shadowstar narutaru...and if it contains cute little characters(basicly loli...), even better. Anime like these gets me all excited... Anyways to wrap it up, need disturbing anime, starts off misleadingly cute, ends up vomit inducing creepy, preferrably involving cute chars. Sorry if people get tired of seeing anime recommendation threads, but I did try looking at the recommendation board that is stickied, but like I said, I cant find a category that would fit nicely into what Im looking for...and sorry if this post is a bit too long....tis my first time. P.S No hentai please. Thank you |

If you look around you'll see there are several topics about these "disturbing" series already
while not recommendation threads you can probably find a couple of series by looking through them |

I wouldn't think it's a category that doesn't exist, so much as a specific type of horror. You could do an encyclopedia search for that genre and check the summaries to see if got killer lolis.
That said, it's not likely you'll end up with much that's more disturbing than the three shows you listed. Mainly because there aren't very many more that fit your qualifications. I suppose Petite Cosette might qualify, in that it starts off cute (if dark and ominous) and includes the ghost of a young girl taking revenge on the reincarnation of her murderer. Hell Girl also has horrific supernatural retribution distributed by a young girl, but it's not misleading about the cuteness at all. Maybe School Days, but the horror aspect doesn't come in until the very end, and many of the characters inspire loathing. |

ah thanks....I was afraid I wouldnt be able to find much better then shows like higurashi or elfen lied....which is a damn shame...everything else I watch seems so bland after I watched those 3...now all I got are a bunch of ecchis...which never grow old. Guess Ill try out hell girl.
Authors should be a bit more daring and write something controversial more often.... My dream anime would be something that is a combination of Kodomo no jikan and Higurashi... School days ending wasnt that disturbing. I almost kinda expected that to happen in the end. P.S I have read a couple threads about disturbing anime people seen...only problem is over half of them are elfen lied and higurashi. Although those people did list some of my favourate scenes... |

Unfortunately recommendation threads are recommendation threads. If you believe another category should be added to the current official thread then you can make such a suggestion to the admins or staff. Otherwise they aren't allowed. My best suggestion is to use the threads people have linked you too; if you find the same titles repeated often with little else, that may well mean there's just not many titles of this nature out there.
