What anime character do you think has the best all around character creation from the artist(s) and writer(s) that created him or her? This includes how the character dresses, the characters personality, the characters past and present and maybe even future. Things that all around make it the best character you have ever seen.

For me, the character who has got to be the best and complex character I have ever been honored to watch would be cowboy bebop's own Spike Spiegel.

Spike Spiegel is just a great character, as he has a killer sense of style with that blue suits he wears and he doesn't wear it all proper he wears it with style. Like he just doesn't give a crap what anyone has to say about the way he dresses. And that's another reason, I love his Devil May Care attitude. He only has one true mission in life and that is to be with his one true love Julia. Then i love that fact that he has Vicious as a rival and spoiler[they use to be good friend and partners when Spike and Vicious both worked for the Red Dragon Sydicate then Spike fell in love with Vicious's women, Julia, and faked his own death to leave the sydicate and be with her. But she never joined him she was too afraid. Now Julia is on her own and on the run and Vicious is hunting down both her and Spike. And Spike and Vicious can only be killed by each others hands, just adds to Spike's overall cool factor. ] And Spike is trained in Jeet Kun Do the martial art created by the late great Bruce Lee himself. To me that just makes a killer character and make him worthy of being the character with the best all around creation.

This very much resembles that thread I saw about "who's your favorite anime character of all-time" from a long time ago. Only in this thread, you managed to keep it more specific by asking for the details. Good job! Wink

As for my favorite "character creation." As you can see in my avatars, I revere the man they call Shinomori Aoshi (but in English they call him 'Owshi,' 'Ow' as in 'cow' -- I hate that dub... Mad)

Anyway, I like him mostly for the attitude he displays during Kyoto. On top of that he's a great fighter and dresses pretty stylish himself.

spoiler[ With his initial porogative to have himself and the Oniwabanshuu known as the strongest from the Edo perioid, I decided to relate myself to that motive because I consider myself to be very competative in various situations as well.

And after the death of his fellow comrades, he of course decided to throw away practically everything he once held any sentiment for and evetually became the cold-hearted murderer that he was during Kyoto.

Sure he did lose to Kenshin, but it's the attitude that I like and would very much like to apply to my own situations at times, although my real personality doesn't seem to fit that persona because I'm usually considered a "nice guy."]

And on a semi-related topic, I watched Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture last night, and I have a lot of sentiment for Terry Bogard now as well.

In addition to me using him a lot in those fighting games, I also thought he had some good character (in the movie anyway.) When it comes to the connotation "tragic hero," next to Kenshin in Tsuioku-hen, I think Terry is the among the top.

That's so sad what happened to Sulia. Crying or Very sad

Well much like Tony you can judge mine from my avatar as Itto Ogami. A few years back a friend of mine was reading a very small little book. At first I thought it was one of those pocket dicitionary's, but after getting closer I saw that it was none other than Lone Wolf and Cub. This was my introduction to Itto, and the more I read about him the more I liked him. After being spoiler[Wrongfully accused of plotting to overthrow the Shogun, Itto becomes an outlaw, wandering through the provinces of feudal Japan with his son Daigoro by his side, seeking vengeance for the murder of his wife and family.]

The things I love about this man are the fact that he can get himself into, and out of any situation. For instance:spoiler[In the third volume of the manga, Itto needs to infiltrate a camp of samurai and take out their leader. He puts his son in control of the horse, and then proceeds to send the horse out of control, while he himself rides on the side of the horse out of view and sight. When he nears the samurai, he cuts off the front legs of the horse, and catches the samurai off-guard and has a much easier time of killing them.]

He dresses in a typical outfit for the time period and carries around his sword. To me he commands a kind of respect and authority just with his very presence.

Even if mine isn't from an Anime, I'll say it anyways. I like Vincent Valentine from FF7 since He has one of the coolest personnalities in the game. He also has a tormented past and punishes himself for it. I just like the way he dresses. (Red and Black are so cool!) I'm not good at describing things so I'll just say that I like him because of his traits.

I will pick up just about anything that has characters created by Fujishima Kousuke. He's the creater of You're Under Arrest, Oh! My Goddess, and eX-Driver as well as the original character designer for Sakura Taisen.

I own all or most of all of those. His characters are known to be stunning to look at. There is usually a huge amount of detail, so much so that you can spend a good five minutes exploring a single drawing of his. His imagination with costumes is amazing. Probably most important, his style puts his characters (or machines, which he also excels at) front and center, so they are the focal point of the page. While perhaps not the best style for incorporating the characters into the action of the world, it does emphasize his skills as an artist.

I also think that Kenshin has all around great character creation. As he spoiler[ lost his parents at a very young age, when his name was still Shinta, and was sold to a group of slave traders but he was taken care of by some of the females that the traders had captured. They had raised him as there own until the slave traders were attacked by a group of bandits and everyone of the slaves and the slave traders were killed and only young Shinta (Kenshin) had survived. It was then that a young swordmaster know as Hiko Seijiouro (think i spelled it right) had easily put an end to all the bandits. This was Shinta's first exposure to the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu. Much to Hiko's surprise when he returned to the scene of the slaughter young Shinta had buried all the dead bodies, even of the bandits that killed his caretakers.] This was an important turning point in Kenshin's life, and i absolutely love the way this made his character turn out. This has an effect on him on so many ways and sadly that isn't even the worst of the horrible experiences and tribulations he goes through in his life.
But besides the experiences that make Kenshin the legendary anime character that he is his sense of style. Not really the clothes, not really the hair, but that scar (even though it's there not as a fashion statement, but as a symbol of something that burns in his past) the scar excentuates his face and gives it the needed detail to complete the overall figure of a Samurai that has seen hell and felt the ultimate loss.

Looking at my SN and avatar, you can probably guess who I'm going with, ne? Yep, the one and only Nuriko of Fushigi Yuugi.

I love the way he looks! He's so pretty! His past is so sad, his powers rock and are fun considering his looks, and I love his attitude! Nuriko just overall rocks ^___________^.

He's wasn't a samurai. He was a very skilled swordsman that chose to use his skills for assassination and later became a wanderer.

Don't let the English name of the OAVs throw you off. Just because it was given the crappy, bastardizing, buy marketable misnomer of "Samurai X" doesn't mean he was in any way shape or form an actual samurai. Wink

besides the title "Samurai X" (which i agree, will throw a lot of people of about the series) i thought that after the whole Tomoe incident Kenshin left the shadows of being an assassin and went on the front line of battles.

He did. He went on a few campaigns before he started wandering.
