Maybe he decided to make money. He'd get mine.

It might be interesting to see how a freshly-married Anno would revisit the characters and situations he created when he was all messed up. I'd prefer to see him keep doing new stuff than recycling past glories, but hey, a guy's gotta eat.

What would YOU vote for?

Eva Death and Rebirth True^3 No Really We Mean It This Time^2?
Or
End Of Evangelion^2?

Or maybe they'll go back and redo the Eva TV series to make it all spiffy and modern. I mean, it's been a whole _7 years_ since it aired..

Please, no. No more, Anno. NO MORE! Evangelion does not need revisited, or remade. It's a great series, true. But it should not, nor does it have the material left in it, to become a Gundam sized menagerie of series. I agree, Anno is good enough to come up with excellent new material. He shouldn't have to whip a dead horse.

The article is called "Second Coming," not "Second Coming of Evangelion." Since the person being interviewed is an extremely popular director who claimed to have left the business completely, it seems more likely that it's Anno's return they're talking about, not Eva's.

Please, no more end movies of NGE after "End of Evangelion". For such a good series, that movie destroyed the image of the series for me. The series is turning out to be like the end of Wayne's world with a bunch of different endings. The day the scooby doo ending comes out for NGE is the day i being to deny ever seeing NGE.

Well I sure hope he's not revisiting Eva. Not that I don't klike it but it's fine the way it is, and I doubt he'd do it anyway. The article is probably his return to anime. In which case the title shouldn't be "Second coming" but maybe "The Prodigal Son". Eh whatever. I guess we'll find out soon.

And for the record "No we really mean it this time" is a great title. That's pretty much how I had to explain the sequence of films to my dad. I'm starting to suspect that Gainax was trying to see how many times people would pay to see what is basically the same movie just for the slightest possibiltiy that they may see two minutes of something they hadn't seen before. The true essence of genius when you think about it.

Thanks for the heads-up Shale.
BTW Sean, very funny, making a reference from the enind of Wayne's World. Now that you mention it, Eva does kinda seem like that.
Personally, I think ADV should have bought the Rights for EoE and slapped it in the special features of the TV DVD #8 as an "Alternate Ending"

Uh..... okay. Well, it was released as a movie in Japan. Not as a "special feature." I mean, it would make sense for them to license it, but to put it as an alternate ending special feature? Yeah. Right. I really hope to God you were joking.

Uhhh... Yeah.

Considering that the discussion at hand involves the rediculously large number of "conclusions" Eva has, I'm pretty sure he was joking.

I was given an interesting link today... so here's a quick romanization and translation of Web-Newtype:

densetsu ha kesshite owattenakatta. iya, mushiro koko kara arata densetsu ga hajimaru. kimi ga mita koto mo kiita koto mo nai "eva" ga tashika koko ni sonzai suru! Anno Hideki interview mo ari.

The legend has not ended. No, rather from here a new legend begins. An unseen, unheard-of "Eva" surely exists here! Also an interview with some guy who might've had something to do with Evangelion.

(yes, the last sentence is a joke. haha. c'mon folks, laugh with me.)

Make of it what you will.

That would be sarcasm there, cheif.

Anyway, maybe if Anno does decide to another NGE (possibly another "Alternate Ending", and c'mon Sakechan at least give me the benefit of calling EoE a longer Alternate Ending), maybe it will be all happy now. You know, he got married (so he must be getting some every now and then), he's got Eva cash, and maybe he owns himself a R34 GT-R, so he's a happy camper. But whatever, it's probably BS on an Eva sequel. But God knows, if Gainax and him decide on a sequel, there be a lot of people in line for it!

Heh. Have you been reading the board posts lately? Only 1 in 10 are usually sarcasm. The other 9 are usually stupid people. It's too hard to tell nowadays. The people I think make a sarcastic crack end up just being dumb. I'm so disillusioned nowadays.

ok.... skipping Death and Rebirth all together, EoE was not an alternate ending, it tells the same ending as the TV series, but will more detail, and shows what is going on just before and the few mins after 3rd impact.

Does no one else see that the same thing happened at the end of the series as what happened at the end of the movie? Shinji rejects instrumentality, and wants to go back to the "real" world as an individual in both. It isn't an alternate ending, it's just what was happen else were during all this as well.

Ahhh.....but is Shinji rejecting or accepting instrumentality at the end of the TV series???

...never mind, I don't wanna go there.

Maybe now that Anno's married and well-adjusted he's going to redo the second half of the series normally. Wink
