I'm getting this Aeon Flux feeling in the sense that "We're going to take everything you think you know about us [the show and/or AS S&P] and turn it on its ear. I hope you have a helmet on because we're going to blow your mind."

One thing's for sure, I'm glad S-cry-ed came on afterwards. I certainly needed a piece of Sunrise kidstuff to help me recover mentally (and then FLCL shot it all to heck)

If Kyle's hopes become a reality, we will know that the ultimate victory has come with the cable airing of a single piece of Japanese animation: Ebichu.

And I'm being totally serious.

Image of girl on internet porn site had her top digitally lowered to cover her breasts. (Weird since we've seen female toplessness on Ghost in the Shell.)

It's not the same (unless I missed an episode...which I have). If I remember, the female toplessness was of robots sans nipples...and a statue of a nude woman with nipples. Remember, when they showed a real nude woman's nipples (in the infamous skinner episode), they had to black it out.

So basically, anything living with nipples is off limits...at least at this point in time. Still, you have to admit that showing a scene where kids look at porn is pretty amusing.

In the original thread I started about Paranoia Agent, someone said that the later PA airing had the "Bullshit" removed.

As far as I know, we've seen naked a female robot (no nipples) and a naked female statue.

I think I can understand why that would be permissable on Adult Swim, considering though it had breasts it didn't really have any "female" anatomy.

About the show though, the episode was interesting; though the girl looked like the artist's version of Osaka from Azumanga Daioh, right down to the way she was standing. Or maybe it's the other way around, who knows. I thought it was odd.

Did anyone else notice that?

Eh, that's nothing. The nudity in Paranoia Agent was in pornographic context though, which is probably why it got covered. A lot of people thought the whole shot would get cut because he's showing porn to kids.

It's great the scene didn't get cut. Even with the breast covered it didn't take away what was happening in the scene.

Anyone know if there is some legal stuff why they don't put the translated text on the screen? I think people who can only see it on TV might want to know what the episode name is and what Tsukiko was reaction to when she reading the posts on her computer.

I now must wear my [adult swim] t-shirt in honor of how great they are.

The "bullshit" was edited out in the second showing. Clearly someone at Cartoon Network just goofed that time.

They often don't run the subtitle sign translations on tv. Ghost in the Shell and other shows when there were signs or text blocks in Japanese didn't have the subtitle track showing the meaning.

So you didn't know why the Tachikoma didn't want the little girl to buy the meatsticks in the market when the Tachikoma scanned them and looked at the sign.

"If Comedy Central can do it why not Adult Swim? It is for adults after all. Reports I've heard indicate that Cartoon Network is trying to expand the envelope of what is permissible on what is advertised as an adult block. I, for one, hope those boundaries do expand. Animation isn't just for kids anymore and AS it taking giant strides in proving that."

Well the difference b/t AS and Comedy Central is AS is shown on Cartoon Network-a station that is still largely geared towards children. So it's not hard at all for a kid to be up and see some blood or toplessness or something. I think that's why they continue to edit somewhat.

Due to recent changes, AS is it's own network. So AS doesn't air on Cartoon Network so much as it airs on the same channel.

I think they said that was done so they could report the rating differently. While Catroon Network and Adult Swim are the same network, it just a cleaver way to report ratings for different demographics or something like that. Smile

Anyway, Anyone remember how Nickolodian and Nick At Night were two completely different programing packages on the same channel.

They have started to show some TV-MA rated shows... although those shows probably wouldn't be MA if on another network.

As far as Nielson ratings, the block is considered a different network than CN. Though that doesn't mean it applies outside of ratings or that the network is treating it completely seperate. Other more adult Turner stations make similar cuts to shows and movies anyway. Smile
