I really like the main character's personality. He is ridiculously kind to everybody and tries to solve things peacefully. We never get to see his "original" self before the unsealing of Santa Claus so I'm confused if he was ever different. The fact that Ayumu Murase voices him helps. The second episode had an episode where he gets happy just for having candies to eat. Allen Walker from D.Gray-man (also voiced by Murase) once had a scene where he drops of all his brooding over having a candy to eat.

Did anyone else notice the headmaster's line in Episode 3 about how Santa has "frequently" appeared in the days since Ono's (alleged) death? Unless I've missed something, he's only seen Santa once. I'm not sure if that was a translation error, or if the anime hasn't been adapting everything, or if the headmaster saw Santa offscreen, or if it's just a case of the headmaster connecting dots and/or exaggerating, but that line stood out to me. I don't speak Japanese, and I haven't read the manga, so I have no idea what to think, but I'm currently leaning towards it being a translation error. I'm hoping that's not the case, though.

Speaking of Episode 3, there were at least 2 moments where translations of on-screen text only appeared for about one second. I had to rewind and pause multiple times because I kept messing up the timing. It kinda feels like on-screen text doesn't get translated as frequently as it used to be, so I don't wanna sound ungrateful when they took the time to offer a translation, but why make it so difficult to read? Not everyone's willing to rewind and pause a show.

I think it is that the headmaster has decided that the other weird things that have happened at the school must have been Santa. With the way adults speak about him, and that there is even a squad meant to fight Santa, it seems like the Santa's existence is a known thing, and it's more a case of confirming suspicions.

The episode was directed by Taguchi. Guess they chose him for the action. It was impressive. Still, it reminded me more to Baki but with lots of nude gags. The ending was surprisingly deep after so many gags.

Given the show's use of well known Christmas music, and given the approaching season, they'll be really missing a trick if they don't put out a Sanda Christmas Album!

It'd go well with my Maria Watches Over Us Christmas Album!

Fuyumura is the most complex character in the story. She is also the most vulnerable. And poor Ono. Everytime I think about her my heart breaks. I won't say why because that is heavy spoilers from the manga.
Abby gave a strong performance as Ono and conveyed her conflicting feelings very well.

The setting ended up being the Main villain of Sanda just like Beastars. Giving these characters their happy endings feels hard since there are several Taboo themes mixed with the leads. Just like Legosi's mother and Legosi's dilemma of loving Haru.

Now looking more like a young woman than a child thanks to undergoing a rapid puberty after falling asleep for the first time...

Is this a nod to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, except instead of aliens (or communists) it's adults? And the body snatching is more literal? Very Happy

Also a quiet call back to "he knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake."

When they first said, "Due to vaccines" I had a moment when I was afraid they were going to blame vaccines on the birthrate plummeting.

Ahhhh, yes, randomly dropping insane piece of lore about human body with an extremely loose connection to real human physiology, truly the special skill of Itagaki family.

Oh, this plot twist is interesting. There was not a plot behind the disappearance of Sano, There is something very wrong in this world, but there is no Evil Boss Sanda and his friends can defeat to fix everything.
Yes, the principal is crazy -like a maracas, as we say- and quite evil, but not on the "I will conquer the world and cancel Christmas, ha-ha-ha!" level evil. And there is a whole world independent from him where seasons are twisted, like the population dynamics -kids are treated more or less like livestock- there are not enough jobs so adults join the Anti-Santa Squad out of necessity, etc.

Also, the not-love triangle between Sanda-Fuyumura-Miko is very funny.

I do wonder where the story will go. It's pretty apparent that the headmaster is more of a symptom and just happens to be the most visible adversary for our main characters. The climate is out of whack, and the declining birth rate has affected one of our trio's family in a way that is very grounded. Unfortunately, the kids get stuck simultaneously being made to fix the world while also not being given a chance to do it themselves.

Gotta say. Im surprised how adorable is Sanda's relationship with Nico. After seeing SO many series that exploit poor relationships, it's breath air how Sanda and Nico shared screentime together.

The kiss scene was hilarious with all those interruptions. Looking forward how the Roma progresses
