In a way or another, Connie & Scarlett duo kind of reminds me of Anis & Euphy from The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady (had to copy-and-paste that

Its one of the works that i still think is a perfect one to get adapted since the story isnt that long enough that u need a season 2 for it. Unless it got dragged

Two episodes and I enjoyed it so far. I just feel like at some points the writing seems to simply dismiss some things that indeed could make it a lot more complicated. Not sure if this is part of the details skippes by the adaptation. Like how a girl like constance would cope with being in the viral news (I feel like there should be a lot bigger consequences, at least in the way she respond to it). Also how Constance quickly agreed to follow every of Eris' instruction. She did show resistance in the beginning, but after that, she seems to just follow along without much consideration of her own current situation, she already had quite a number of separate instructions at this point. This makes it hard for me to figure out Constance's character, another instance is how she feels about Eris. It seems that the first time she has her body taken over, she had a bit of regret (that she shouldn't use her body this way), but then only the second time Eris used her body, she shows such admiration. I understand if it's an admiration as being helped by Eris (she did ask for it), but it looks more like she admired Eris the 'villain', and the villainy way she used her body, which feels like a drastic change compared to how shocked she was the first time. It just seems like many things of these two characters' interaction and relationship development are hidden behind the scenes, but it only makes it like they're hiding complicated things for convenience.

If anything, I think the anime risks rushing too much if it plans to adapt everything. This second episode already cut or shortened plenty of scenes. The thing about the LN is, it may not be long in terms of how many volumes it lasted, but those volumes are very plot dense, and the story gets complicated quickly with all the different characters, political deceptions, and mysteries. The manga adaptation is currently at 14 volumes and it's still ongoing. |

Agreed! I was only mildly impressed by episode 1, but episode 2 more firmly locked me in for following it this season. I find the different angle it's taking on the villainess concept to be refreshing and liked the emphasis on how Randolph showed his reactions to things with little shifts in posture or expression rather than big responses. |

Honestly, i want to take back what i said earlier. It seems also the anime is rushing some scenes. Connie and scarlet chemistry seems taking a hit a bit. I've read the manga adaptation of it up until ginrezis fan translation at chapter 62 then he quit due to lack of motivation and then the mangadex purge event happened. Where his works and other scanlators got deleted entirely. Seven seas really need to catch up with the current volume. So i could read the next chapter |

Randolph says he doesn't want to marry, but he was once married to Lily, which means he's either extremely loyal to his late wife, or their marriage was one of mutual convenience, much like his current engagement to Constance. Also, it seems he can tell when Constance is lying, so what does he think when she tells him about the ghost of Scarlett Castiel, presumably with a straight face? |

This episode went by so fast, with so many new names introduced, it's going to be hard to remember them all and their place in the story.
Wait, did I miss something? Is it implied that Cecilia knows the effect of the tea she's drinking? |

Another question to the ever growing mountain of mysteries in this series. In a scene that the anime skipped, Cecilia acted like she never realized until Connie told her. But the series being what it is, this just adds the question of whether or not we can trust her word on that. |

I wish they figured out a way to do what the books (both novels and manga) do, which is provide a recap of who all the characters are and what we know about them after every chapter.
I took that split-second expression of annoyance to indicate that we shouldn't trust anything Cecilia claims. (Or I was operating off of book knowledge, which I try very hard not to do. If I screwed that up, I'm sorry.) I also want to mention that in some later couples portraits, the husband is sitting and the wife standing behind him, which offers a totally different reading of that scene. I still think it shows the way that Connie is supporting Scarlett, though. |

Oh well, it's a given in villainess stories that the heroine is not to be trusted.
Actually, it seems the episode synopses on the anime's official website includes a character chart, along with an overview of each episode. There's no chart for episode 4, but maybe it'll be added later. Anyway, I went back and re-watched this episode. I wondered last episode what Randolph thought when Constance told him about Scarlett's ghost. Apparently, he just seems to accept it as fact and even acts on what Constance says Scarlett told her. And while Randolph can see through Constance's lies, Constance herself seems to be able to tell when Scarlett is speaking the truth. There's a merchant named Vado who often visits Cecilia, but other merchants never heard of him. Which probably means he's not really a merchant at all, or that he's operating under a fake name. And this Vado seems to be the one supplying Cecilia with the poisonous tea. This world apparently has tabloid reporters and citizen's committees, or rather their monarchical European equivalents. The tabloids in their world seem as trashy as those in ours. |

Feels like they're really speeding through things. We'd get shown a new character or two, they'd say their part for a couple minutes, and then we're off to meet the next new characters. I'm guessing it's not so rushed in the novels and all these encounters like the random reporter will come back to matter in the end, but it feels like we're missing some important bits here and there that were cut. And that's risky for a story that's portraying a mystery and political intrigue.

and you didn't even mention how there are other people able to see Scarlett, like Abigails adorable littlle sister, and the much-less-adorable Hamsworth. I really wonder why especially HE has not said a single thing to anyone about the ghost of Scarlett haunting the kingdom. |
