Ys VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana Game Sells 500,000 Copies Worldwide

Nihon Falcom announced on Wednesday that its Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana game has sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide.

To mark the milestone, the company will release the Ys VIII -Lacrimosa of Dana- Christmas Gift Package (seen right) version of the game on December 20. The edition will bundle two message cards with a DLC product code for an exclusive PlayStation 4 theme and avatar set. One card is intended for the person who owns the game, and one is intended for that person to give away to a friend.

Nihon Falcom released the game in Japan in May 2017, and NIS America released the game for PS4 and PS Vita in North America and Europe in September 2017. NIS America released the game on PC on April 17 after a delay from its previous January 2018 release date.

NIS America then released the game for Nintendo Switch on June 26 in North America, and on June 29 in Europe. The release included three patches to fix text issues and other issues with the game. The earlier PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions reportedly had issues with the localization following launch — NIS America apologized for the low quality in October and released a free patch on January 30.
