Ys VIII Game's PC Release, Localization Patch Slated for January 30

posted on by Karen Ressler

NIS America announced on Wednesday that its global release date for the PC version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA is January 30, 2018. The PC release will include its updated localization, and the localization patch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions will launch on the same day.

The free patch is under development to address concerns regarding the localization quality of the game. NIS America president and CEO Takuro Yamashita previously apologized for quality that "has not reached an acceptable level." Yamashita also noted that the company is investigating the causes of the issues with the initial localization so that "a similar situation does not occur again."

The staff have rewritten "nearly 100%" of the script and will be "re-recording nearly everything" with the same cast. Battle lines and some incidentals will remain from the first recording.

Nihon Falcom released the game in Japan on May 25 and NIS America released the game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on September 12 in North America and September 15 in Europe. The PC release was delayed to coincide with the release of the localization patch.
