The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime's 1st Dub Episode Delayed

posted on by Alex Mateo

The official English Twitter account for the television anime of Aneko Yusagi's The Rising of The Shield Hero (Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari) fantasy light novel series announced on Tuesday that the first episode of the English dub will not stream on Wednesday as planned. Crunchyroll told ANN that the episode is delayed and it will "share more info soon."

Crunchyroll previously announced plans to debut the dubbed episodes on the same days as the subtitled versions. Funimation was also scheduled to premiere the simuldub of the series on Wednesday in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

The series was scheduled to launch on Crunchyroll on January 9, but Crunchyroll streamed the first 45-minute English-subtitled episode early on Saturday. New episodes will stream on Wednesdays worldwide outside of Asia. The company is producing the dub as its first simultaneous dub title, and it plans to debut dubbed episodes on the same day as the subtitled episodes.

Crunchyroll originally previewed the first dubbed episode at Crunchyroll Expo on September 3 with guests from the anime.

The series premiered with a two-hour special in Japan on AT-X on January 9 at 10:00 p.m. The show will run for two consecutive cours or a half-year.

Takao Abo (Norn9) is directing the anime at Kinema Citrus. Keigo Koyanagi (Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars) is in charge of series composition. Masahiro Suwa (Chaika the Coffin Princess animation director) is adapting Seira Minami's original character designs for animation. Crunchyroll is co-producing the show with Kadokawa. Dance vocal group MADKID are performing the opening theme song "RISE." Chiai Fujikawa is performing the ending theme song "Kimi no Namae" (Your Name).
