Space Battleship Yamato (live-action movie)

Some veteran actors who worked on the original TV series reprise their roles or play different characters related to their original roles. Kenichi Ogata and Masato Ibu return as Analyzer and Dessler, respectively. Miyuki Ueda, who played Queen Starsha in the series, does the voice of Iscandar taking over Yuki's body. Isao Sasaki, who recorded the iconic TV series theme, does the film's narration.

"Space Battleship Yamato" co-creator Leiji Matsumoto was offered a position in making this movie, but he turned down the offer out of disapproval for the inclusion of human character deaths in the film's script. Ironically, he took no action against the makers of this film when he learned that his Yamato design was being used without his permission.
