If you look at the Media Blasters / Anime Works DVD box art and labelling compared to the features on each DVD, you will notice that the second and third discs have the wrong featured character! The second DVD, Sunrise, has Fuu on the box cover and DVD label but the art and features cover Umi (including an interview with Wendee Lee). The third DVD, Noon, has Umi on the box cover and DVD label but the art and features covers Fuu!

The names of some characters and places are based on cars, e.g. Cefiro: Nissan Cefiro; Emeraude: Mitsubishi Emeraude; Clef: Mazda Clef; Alcione: Subaru Alcione; Presea: Nissan Presea; Ferio: Honda Civic Ferio; Ascot: Honda Ascot; Eagle Vision: Chrysler Eagle Vision; Geo Metro: Chevrolet Geo Metro; Innova: Honda Ascot Innova; Lantis: Mazda Lantis; Primera: Nissan Primera; Debonair: Mitsubishi Debonair; Nova: Chevrolet Nova; Aska: Isuzu Aska.

The name "Hikaru Shidou" translates to "Light of the Lion Shrine" and alludes to her astrological sign: Leo the Lion.

The name "Fuu Hououji" translates to "Wind of the Phoenix Temple".

The name "Umi Ryuzaki" translates to "Dragon Blossom of the Sea".

The bubbly fairy Mokona featured in Magic Knight Rayearth is also featured in CLAMP's other series Tsubasa.
