Chara-Ani to sell 50-cm-wide cushion with floppy ears in August

The Japanese character goods retailer Chara-Ani began accepting pre-orders for a Kyubey Face Cushion from the Puella Magi Madoka Magica magical girl anime series on Thursday.

The 50-centimeter-wide (about 20-inch-wide) cushion features embroidered eyes and mouth, separate ears with gradated pink tips, and cloth rings. Pre-orders for the cushion of the polarizing character end on May 29, and Chara-Ani plans to ship the cushions for 3,500 yen (US$43) in August.

Another company, Kotobukiya, had begun taking pre-orders for a different Kyubey Cushion in three variants last month. However, Kotobukiya's cushion will not have separate ears or rings, and it will have printed instead of embroidered facial features when it ships this summer.

Banpresto began advertising a Kyubey plush toy for its Ichiban Kuji lottery prize line in August, while Fragment is already selling a Kyubey kigurumi (plush cosplay) costume suit. A dōjin circle named Akamiso offers unofficial QB Marshmallows of Kyubey's face.
