Symphony orchestra to perform videogame franchise music around the world

The Japanese videogame console and game manufacturer Nintendo announced on Tuesday that in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda videogame franchise, it will hold a series of concerts in which a symphony orchestra will perform the music from the game series. The concerts will begin this fall in regions throughout the world. Nintendo made the announcement during its press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conference in Los Angeles.

In recent years, the Video Games Live orchestra has performed concerts world-wide which consisted of music from videogames, including games originating in Japan and elsewhere. Between November 2010 and June 2011, the group performed 42 concerts. In 2003, a concert was held in Tokyo featuring big band-style arrangements of music from both the Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda franchises. Scitron Digital Contents released a CD recording of the live performance.
