Live-action Usagi Drop's Sabu directs the Tokyo Dead Rising short film

CAPCOM's official Dead Rising 2: Off the Record website began streaming a 37-second trailer for the Tokyo Dead Rising live-action adaptation of the survival horror game. Japanese director and actor Sabu is collaborating with Japanese game maker CAPCOM to direct the short film project.

Tokyo Dead Rising will re-imagine the story from Dead Rising 2: Off the Record in a suburban Tokyo setting. The story follows a journalist who puts himself in danger by investigating a mysterious zombie outbreak.

Director of the 2011 live-action Usagi Drop adaptation, Sabu made his directorial debut in 1996 with Non-Stop. Sabu began acting in 1986 and played Kaneko in the 2001 live-action film Ichi the Killer, among other roles.

CAPCOM previously collaborated with character designer Norio Shioyama (Armored Trooper Votoms, Yoroiden Samurai Trooper/Ronin Warriors) to create the Samurai Dead Rising anime shorts. CAPCOM also announced Zombrex Dead Rising Sun (Shibyō Osen Dead Rising) will be a live-action movie version of its Dead Rising 2 zombie game.
