Naruto x GREE Social Game Has English Version Planned

posted on by Egan Loo
RPG to launch on Japanese feature/smartphones this summer, with overseas plans

GREE, one of the largest mobile phone game platforms and social networking services in Japan, announced that it will offer the first Naruto social card game under the supervision of Namco Bandai Games. It also revealed plans for an English version and plans for overseas release.

In the tentatively titled Naruto x GREE role-playing game, users collect Ninja Info Cards illustrated by the Naruto anime characters. The users can also take on missions and regularly held challenges to raise their skill and levels. They can then join forces to form the strongest ninja teams and defeat enemies.

GREE plans to release the game onto feature phones at the end of June, with smartphones (such as those running Android and iOS) to follow later this summer. Japanese users can register in advance starting on Friday, and preregistered users will receive bonus in-game extras. GREE has started on an English version for North America, and it plans to offer the game outside Japan.

The game celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Naruto anime; Masashi Kishimoto's original manga has over 120 million copies in print.
