Ai Ore Manga's Rock Band Spawns Real-Life Debut CD

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Live-action film of Mayu Shinjo's manga to open on August 25

The fictitious rock band Blaue Rosen from the live-action film adaptation of Mayu Shinjo's Ai Ore! Love Me! (Ai o Utau yori Ore ni Oborero!) manga will release a debut CD in real life. In the manga's story, the male “princess” of an all-boys school joins the Blaue Rosen band and pursues its lead guitarist, the female “prince” of an all-girls school.

The single's title song will be "Re:birth day," and the CD will include the film's insert song "Ai yori Aoku." Instrumental versions of the two songs will also appear on the CD. Shinjo created a back cover jacket illustration (pictured below left) for the release. The CD will ship in Japan on August 8 for 1,365 yen (about US$17).

DGNA Korean pop group member Karam will star as the male “princess” Akira Shiraishi in the film. Actress Ito Ōno (High School Debut) will play Mizuki Sakurazaka, the female “prince” and member of the all-girl band. Actor Takuya will play Rui Kiryuuin, vice-president of the series' Dankaisan High School. DGNA will perform the film's theme song "Ikenai 1-2-3."

The film will open in Japan on August 25.

Viz Media published the third volume of Ai o Utau yori Ore ni Oborero! under the title Ai Ore in North America last November. Viz also publishes the Ai-Ore! Danshikō no Hime to Joshikō no Ōji sequel (under the same Ai Ore title) and Shinjo's Sensual Phrase manga.
