Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission's Full Promo Streamed

3DS card game's Scouter camera, 2013 film characters, new animation featured

Namco Bandai Games began streaming the full promotional video for Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission, its Nintendo 3DS port of the 2010 Dragon Ball Heroes arcade card battle adventure game, on Wednesday. The video shows some of exclusive features of the 3DS port:

The game will feature over 100 characters and more than 900 cards in 12 packs (from the first Dragon Ball Heroes release to the fourth Galaxy Mission pack), including all rare cards. The player assembles a deck of five cards for battles. As the player uses the touch stylus to create a card formation and time certain attacks on the bottom screen, the battle unfolds on the top screen. Players can also make full use of the built-in wireless features of the 3DS to duel with each other and get more cards.

Unlike the arcade version, the Nintendo 3DS port will have a new story mode that will let the player follow and experience the Dragon Ball story, along with newly animated footage. The game can read QR codes from the arcade version to get various missions.

The 3DS version will also include an extra augmented reality "Scouter" feature that will allow players to scan the faces of themselves and others to view their power levels. Scanning others will allow players to get items and Zeni, and if the power level of that person is high enough, a Great Ape Vegeta will appear and players can then battle Vegeta with their friends.

Previously unseen new characters from this March's Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods film will be playable characters.

The game will arrive in Japan on February 28, 2013. The first copies of the game will have an exclusive card set with a 100-save Trial Hero License Card for the arcade version, four battle cards (including two with new characters before they get released elsewhere), and a hero avatar card.
