Jouji Nakata, Toshihiko Seki, Daisuke Namikawa to Star as Magical Salarymen in Drama CD

Ojimajo to also make an appearance at this year's Comiket

While the deconstruction of magical girls has been popular as of late, Crown Works' latest drama CD presents another twist on the magical girl genre by presenting magical girls that aren't even, um, girls.

Mahō Chūnen Ojimajo 5, which roughly translates to "Magical Adults: Uncle Magical Girls 5," is the story of five middle-aged salarymen who "transform" into magical girls to grant the wish of the boss's granddaughter. Their faces don't change, their bodies don't change, their ages don't change — only their clothes are different. This transformation is due to a magical stone brought back from a business trip to Istanbul.

Here's the character list:

  • SATOSHI YOSHIKAWA (played by Jouji Nakata)
  • Head of Yoshikawa Factory. Very paternal towards both his employees and grandchildren. Transforms into "Innovation CEO."

  • SHUNTAROU IIDA (played by Toshihiko Seki)
  • Chief of the General Affairs section. Has a useless desk job because he breaks every machine he touches. Even the shredders. Transforms into "Sunshine Deskwarmer."

  • RYOUTA SOEJIMA (played by Daisuke Namikawa)
  • A researcher. Recently transferred from a space development firm because his bosses irritated him. Dresses up as cute girls in his free time. Transforms into "Catharsis Midterm Hire."

  • NAOSUKE KATADA (played by Kazuya Nakai)
  • Sales manager. A skilled businessman fluent in several languages, including English and Chinese. Drinks too much. Transforms into "Global Sales Manager."

  • HARUKA INOUE (played by Yasunori Matsumoto)
  • Head of "Inoue Graphics," a design company. Started it after previous two jobs frustrated him. Still frustrated since his clients aren't exciting enough. Transforms into "Venture Inoue."

    And let's not forget....

  • ELIZABETH (played by Akira Ishida)
  • Iida's cat. He keeps him company since he divorced his wife. Doesn't seem to mind crossdressing.

The CD is slated for release next year, but in the meantime Crown Works will make an appearance at Comiket at the "Dice & Gryphon" booth. The staff will distribute free badges of the six characters in their magical "girl" forms.
