Nostalgic Earphones Feature Classic Gameboy

Relive gaming's early days with these retro earphones

Like a fine wine, nostalgic memories are something that just tends to get better as time goes by. If you belong to the generation that spent many days of their childhood playing with the first generation of Nintendo's iconic handheld console, the Game Boy, then this item is sure to bring all of those happy experiences flooding back to you. Even if you've lost or broken your grey brick of wonders over the years, you can always keep it in your heart, and in your ears, thanks to the Datel's new "Retro Game Boy Earphones and Mic."

The design for these earphones make the utilization of the first generation Game Boy's image more than just for tugging at the heartstrings. The handheld console itself functions as the mic unit and control switch for the earphone set. You can use the old school volume dial to control the volume of whatever you are listening to, just as you would if you were actually playing a game on your old Game Boy. The spot that held the original Game Boy's speaker has been turned into a microphone, that makes it possible to use the earphones for recording things and making calls using the headphones. Finally, the A Button can be used to serve various functions, such as pausing or replaying a song, muting a device, or even ending a call on a cell phone. The cord for this headphone set is retractable, making it easy to store in your pocket without fear of it getting all tangled up.

This homage to the early days of gaming will be available for purchase starting in the middle of November. It will be sold online through Amazon, where it already has a listing for preorders. It's only a matter of time before we see beautiful meshes of old meets new with gamers walking down the street while playing their 3DS using these headphones. Hopefully there are no negative effects if you plug them into a Sony console.
