I still need to play the 2nd Hyrule Warriors game. A Switch 2 update would do wonders to get on my butt to do that.

While I love all these spin-off warrior games, I don't think I'll ever get my dream one (Xenoblade). However I'm wondering if Nintendo has approached KT about doing a Pokemon one because like One Piece it would sell gangbusters.

I don’t know if the small playable roster is that much of a weakness, especially when even at just 19 characters, it feels incredibly padded out with generic characters. A odd choice, especially once you notice that one of the few recognizable characters from TotK, spoiler[Queen Sonia,] isn’t playable at all, for some reason. What really matters in a musou game are more the unique movesets, usually tied to weapons, and there’ve been plenty of Musou games where you could freely swap between different weapon types with any character. Or, as Dynasty Warriors: Origins indicates, if the combat system is deep enough, Musou games don’t really need all that many different weapons/movesets, either.

Anyway, I’m steadily making progress through AoI playing maybe a mission or two at a time. Gameplay-wise, it’s very solid, but without any compelling characters or engaging story to provide a meaningful context for that action, it’s hard to really care all that much about playing through it all the way to end. This story wasn’t all that interesting in TotK, and it’s no more interesting here.

Seems like a solid, if imperfect, entry in the "Zelda Musou" franchise.
