Life-Size Gundam Unicorn Goes Gold This Winter with Interactive Light Show

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The life-size statue of the Unicorn Gundam mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam UC anime debuted its hypnotizing projection mapping light show last year after replacing the earlier full-size RX-78-2 Gundam on Tokyo's Odaiba island. The new life-size Gundam comes with new bells and whistles including the ability to transform and luminesce from 50 different areas.

This winter, the power will be in visitors' hands. Staff are preparing the mecha's LED lighting for the new season and will allow sightseers to select the Unicorn Gundam's color with the push of a button. The effect will last approximately one minute ensuring that everyone gets a turn. When the mecha isn't flashing between different color options it'll glow a gorgeous gold while other lit decorations adorn its feet.

The tourist attraction is also honoring the upcoming premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative in theaters on November 30. One of the light selection options will project the colors of the Psycho-Frame Gundam variant; a green light covers the body while rainbow lights illuminate its feet.

The new light show will start on November 23 and run until January 31, 2019.
