Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it has launched a new Indian advertising campaign featuring Bollywood actress Rashmika Mandanna and cricketer Shubman Gill. The campaign titled "Ready to Anime?" will comprise two ad films, the first of which is debuting during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and will also air during Shark Tank India Season 5 on Sony LIV.
Crunchyroll announced on January 8 that Gill is its newest Indian celebrity ambassador.
Crunchyroll launched its first Indian advertising campaign in April 2024 with two anime shorts by the respective Japanese studios Drive Inc. and ARECT, Inc. starring Bollywood actors Tiger Shroff and Rashmika Mandanna. The company launched a second set of ads on June 3.
The company announced its promotional partnership Shroff and Mandanna in July 2023.
Rashmika Mandanna presented at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 in Tokyo in March that year. Preceding the appearance, the company had gifted the actress a portrait of her as a shinobi as a nod to her favorite anime Naruto Shippūden. Crunchyroll also gifted Tiger Shroff an anime-style portrait in November 2023.
The Crunchyroll Anime Awards streamed with a Hindi dub last year. An option to watch the award show with a Hindi dub was available for the first time ever at the awards. The company also presented an award for Best Hindi Voice Artist Performance for the first time last year.
