Ninja Hattori Kun The Movie is a live-action adaptation of Ninja Hattori-kun, a manga from the 1960s that has previously been adapted into a live action TV series in the 1960s and an anime TV series and anime movie in the 1980s. Ninja Hattori-kun was created by Fujio-Fujiko, the creators of Doraemon.

One difference between the Japanese "Box Office Weekend" and the North American "Box Office Weekend" is that, in Japan, the weekend figures only count Saturday and Sunday, while the North American standard is to count sales from Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In North America, the Friday box office sales account for approximately 33% of the weekend's sale, while Saturday accounts for 40% and Sunday for 26%.
