LOS ANGELES – June 3, 2026 – Nexon America is thrilled to reveal the key highlights of the upcoming "Ride the Lightning" Part 1 update for Global MapleStory, launching Wednesday, June 17. Packed with transformative content, this monumental summer update delivers sweeping Quality of Life (QoL) upgrades designed to drastically improve the player experience, an accelerated progression system via the returning Challenger World, and massive Burning Events.
This sneak peek also showcases the highly anticipated debut of Erel Light, a brand-new character class rolling out exclusively to Global MapleStory players before any other region worldwide, alongside the debut of the exclusive Althea Saga narrative.
Global First: Meet Erel Light
Stepping onto the battlefield as the second SHINE class, Erel Light is a formidable warrior who wields the radiant Spear of Light. Armed with Gram as a primary weapon and Keir as a secondary, Erel commands a loyal guard of summoned sentinels to completely dominate the battlefield. To quickly level up this brand-new character, players can bring Erel Light directly into the revamped Challenger World and take full advantage of the Hyper Burning events.

Game-Changing Quality of Life Improvements
This update brings a massive overhaul to equipment enhancement and everyday gameplay mechanics. To make progression smoother than ever, Global MapleStory is introducing the following upgrades:
Equipment & Enhancing Upgrades:
Risk-Free Enhancing: Enhance your gear to 22 Stars while completely avoiding the risk of destruction.
Reduced Rental Fees & Extended Durations: Enjoy lower equipment rental costs in interactive worlds, with rental durations now extended to two full days for all worlds.
Enhanced Equipment Restoration: Recover your gear faster with a 20% increase to the daily limit of the Mysterious Star Speck Box and higher maximum points for the Trace Restoration boss mission.
Familiar & Mystic Frontier: Unlocked slots are now shared across characters in the same world. Plus, enjoy adjusting individual familiar sounds and simplified extraction and fusion animations.
Skill Improvements: ON/OFF skills now stay active between logins. Additionally, True Arachnid Reflection and Solar Crest can be added to the Skill Sequence system.
Item Acquisition: Accelerate your profession mastery using coupons bought with Profession Credits, and find Superior Item Crystals newly stocked in the Monster Park Shop.
General Gameplay & System Improvements:
Sunday Double Daily Gift: Claim your Daily Gift check-in twice every Sunday to speed up your rewards.
Home Furnishing Expansion: The maximum expandable home furnishing slot limit has been increased to 600.
Larger Inventory Stacks: Maximum stack sizes for miscellaneous items have been increased.
Monster Park Extreme: All skill cooldowns will now immediately reset upon entering Monster Park Extreme.
Mystic Frontier Upgrades: Added completion alerts for Mystic Frontier explorations, and significantly reduced rest times.
Legion Honor Buff: The weekly purchase limit for Legion's Honor EXP Guarantees has been increased to 10.
Fog Forest Update: The Fog Forest Training Grounds is now instantly accessible via Quick Move.
New Ruin Force Shield Source: Players can now acquire the Ruin Force Shield via Dawn Whisper Crystals.
Accelerated Progression in the Returning Challenger World
Leveling up reaches new heights with the return of the Challenger World, featuring massive buffs that grow stronger as players climb the tiers. This season also introduces a world-exclusive boss: Kai, the Time-Lashed Wanderer. Maplers who reach Normal Difficulty and Hard Difficulty that defeat him during the Kai Clear event will earn premium rewards, including the Magnificent Kai's Soul Box and the Time-Lashed Wanderer Outfit Set. Complete special missions in Challenger World to obtain unique and powerful rewards. Plus, players can complete special Challenger World missions to unlock even more unique and powerful rewards.
To further accelerate progression, players can stack the benefits of Hyper Burning Max, Beyond Burning, and Item Burning Plus to skyrocket their levels and claim exclusive gear as soon as they hit Lv. 200.
Operation: Dive featuring the Althea Saga
Operation: Dive introduces a dedicated Story Mode where players can experience the brand-new Althea Saga. Launching Phase 1 on June 17, the narrative immerses players into the mysterious desert town of Magatia to join Althea and an inspector on a perilous mission. Evolving throughout the summer, Maplers will have the chance to unravel the mystery.
