Kadokawa Announces 2007 Light Novel Awards

Toradora!, Rental Magica among the winners selected by fans
"Light" novel and manga publisher Kadokawa has announced the five titles that readers voted as the best light novels in Japan. The winners, which were sorted into five different categories, are as follows. If a manga adaptation of the novel exists or is planned, it is noted with a star (*). Novels with both anime and manga adaptations are marked with two stars.
Best Romantic Comedy: Toradora!* by Takemiya Yuyuko, illustrations by Yasu
Best Story with an Academic Theme: Kōkoku no Regios (Steel Shelled Regios)* by Shūsuke Amagi, illustrations by Miyū
Best Action Story: Rental Magica**: I'll Lend You My Magical Power! by Makoto Sanda, illustrations by pako
Best Mystery: "Bungaku Shōjō" to Shinitagari no Piero ("Literature Girl" and the Clown Who Wished to Die) by Mizuki Nomura, illustrations by Miho Takeoka
Best Novelization: Monster Hunter: Kari no Okite (The Commandment of Hunting) by Yūki Rin, illustrations by Shigeto Koyama. Adapted from the CAPCOM online game series Monster Hunter
Kadokawa initiated the voting period for the awards earlier this year and held drawings for prizes among the fans who voted. No announcement has been made as to whether the light novel authors will receive awards as well.
