Manga-Drawing University Anthropologist Profiled

posted on by Egan Loo
The Daily Yomiuri English newspaper has translated an article from its Japanese sister publication Yomiuri Shimbun about Daisaku Tsuru, a Toyama University anthropology professor who also draws manga for Kodansha's Afternoon magazine. (Afternoon has published the Blade of the Immortal, Genshiken, and Oh My Goddess! manga.) Tsuru based nacuN (written as Nachun in Japanese), his manga about a mystical prophecy from the southern Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, on his own field research in the area. The manga's third volume was just compiled and published in February. Tsuru is already planning his next manga, which will focus on Africa.
