The X Japan rock group announced on Sunday that it will perform at the Taipei World Trade Center in Taiwan on August 2. This will be the reunited band's first Asian concert outside Japan. The group had already announced that it will perform in Paris on July 5 and hold a concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden on September 13. The revived group made its world debut with "I.V.," the Saw 4 movie's theme song which included tracks by its late guitarist Hideto "Hide" Matsumoto. According to a statement released by the band leader Yoshiki Hayashi at his Los Angeles studio, the band wanted to come to Taipei for their 10,000 or more Taiwanese fans.
X Japan's most notable anime contributions were the songs in the X² music video collection and later X movie. Madhouse adapted both productions from CLAMP's X manga.
