Morning Musume producer to judge AX Idol; Aksys brings Guilty Gear creators

Anime Expo and Bang Zoom! Entertainment have announced that the AX Idol singing contest will return for its seventh outing during the July 2-5 convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and that Hello Project producer Tsunku♂ will be a guest judge. Tsunku♂ is best known for assembling the Morning Musume girl group from the finalists of the televised auditions for his own rock band, Sharan Q. In addition to producing Morning Musume and other musical acts under the Hello Project umbrella name, Tsunku♂ once sang several hit songs for Sharan Q, such as DNA²'s "Single Bed" and Orphen's "Ai Just on my Love" and "Kimi Wa Majutsushi." He also composed and wrote music for Hyakko, Kirarin Revolution, Patalliro Saiyuki, School Rumble: 2nd Semester, and Yo-Yo Girl Cop. (Some of these anime- and manga-related projects feature current members and alumni of Hello Project.) Morning Musume will perform at Anime Expo as Musical Guests of Honor.

Composer Daisuke Ishiwatari and lead designer Toshimichi Mori of the BlazBlue fighting game will also appear at Anime Expo as Guests of Honor. Ishiwatari previously produced the popular Guilty Gear fighting game franchise for Arc System Works. He co-conceived Guilty Gear, and he also designed the characters and composed the music. Ishiwatari is now composing the music for BlazBlue. His colleague Mori wears the hats of director, lead artist, and designer for BlazBlue, and he also worked on the Guilty Gear franchise. Aksys Games is importing BlazBlue to North America this summer.
