Lyricist Ryoji Sonoda Arrested for Alleged Drug Use

Police in the Azabu district of coastal Tokyo have arrested lyricist Ryoji Sonoda on Monday for allegedly using illegal stimulants. Sonoda, whose real given name is Toshitaka, wrote songs for the musical artists BoA and SMAP, but he also wrote songs for Amatsuki, Rosario + Vampire, and other anime projects. Sonoda is accused of using the drugs towards the end of this month, on the basis of a urinalysis test. According to the Azabu police, he admitted to using the drugs.
