A Korean teaser site for Dragonball Online, CJ Internet and Bandai Korea's massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG) based on Akira Toriyama's fighting manga, has launched with an updated trailer movie on Monday. (In the linked page, select the "Game Movie" option at the bottom left.) The trailer features new scenes not seen in last year's promotional movie, including a shot of a mysterious unnamed character at the very end. The game was originally slated to open in Korea last year and in Japan this year, but it is now slated for closed beta testing in Korea next month.
The game is being jointly developed by Japanese and Korean staffers, and is set 250 years after Toriyama's original manga. (According to the producers, Toriyama is supervising the designs of the characters and monsters.) In this Age 1000 era, the world is at peace until mysterious invaders appear. Despite the timeframe difference, the producers are promising that players can recreate the feel of the original manga with battles in Dragonball's signature Tenkaichi Budōkai tournaments and "time machine quests."
